About Me

Hi! I'm Lauren Ault, and my creative journey started with yearbook layouts and a camera in hand. It evolved into a career in graphic design and marketing—and now into freelance work serving the Pittsburgh area, blending strategy, storytelling, and photography.

My Creative Journey

High School:

I fell in love with layout design and photography as Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook.

Freshman Year of College:

I continued working on the yearbook and discovered my passion for PR and client-focused work.

PR Class:

I realized that designing layouts and newsletters was a real career path.

Major Shift:

I switched to graphic design and eventually transferred schools for better opportunities.

Junior & Senior Years:

I developed strong design skills under the mentorship of amazing professors, especially Dr. Strahler (social media strategies) and Dr. Keppel (design principles).

Senior Year Internship:

I worked as a Graphic Design Specialist at a print shop, where I learned that design isn't always graphical, but it's always essential. I gained invaluable print production experience that has proven incredibly valuable in my design career.

Marketing Manager in Manufacturing:

I gained experience designing for a technical audience, focusing on accuracy and technical advertising in print and digital formats.

Marketing Coordinator in HVAC/Plumbing:

I designed content for social media, billboards, radio, and commercials, balancing creative vision with technical precision.

Community College Graphic Designer:

I gained valuable experience managing client relationships, refining designs for print materials, ads, and sub-identity logos.

Freelance Goals:

Now, I’m pursuing freelance projects in the greater Pittsburgh area to bring more flexibility and balance to my work and personal life, while continuing to deliver high-quality designs.
